A1 Solo Speaking Practice 🗣️

Practice speaking aloud for each exercise. Your goal is to speak clearly, use the correct grammar (is/are), and use the required vocabulary. Use the recorder provided with each activity to hear yourself and self-correct.

1. The 30-Second Inventory 🏠

Task: Describe objects around you using the Simple Present tense (is/are).

Goal: Speak for at least 30 seconds, describing at least 5 objects.

Required Adjectives: large, small, clean, dirty, old, new, modern, colourful.

Set the timer and record yourself speaking about things you see now.

Target Structure Examples: My [Object] is [Adjective]. (e.g., My computer is modern.) The [Objects] are [Adjective]. (e.g., The shoes are dirty.)

2. Self-Interview: "This or That?" ❓

Task: Ask and answer simple questions about opposites. Act as both the interviewer and the interviewee.

Goal: Complete 4 question-and-answer pairs without stopping the recording.

Required Adjective Pairs: happy/sad, tall/short, good/bad, kind/mean.

Record the question, pause briefly, and then record the answer.

Dialogue Structure Examples: - Am I [Adjective 1] or [Adjective 2]? [PAUSE] You are [Adjective 1/2]. - Is the weather good or bad? [PAUSE] It is good.

3. Describe a Photo 🖼️

Task: Find a picture of a person (family, friend, celebrity) and describe their appearance and personality.

Goal: Speak for at least 1 minute (use timer if needed) and use 6 different sentences.

Required Adjectives: curly, straight, tall, short, young, friendly, funny, serious, kind.

Look at your chosen photo and deliver a monologue describing the person.

Sentence Starter Examples: - He/She is [Adjective] (for personality or height). - He/She has [Adjective] hair. - I think he/she is [Adjective].

4. The Opposite Challenge ⏱️

Task: Quickly say the opposite of the given word.

Goal: Say 10 opposites in less than 60 seconds.

Read the first word aloud, then immediately say its opposite. Try to go as fast as you can without stopping!
