The Mystery of the Missing Backpack 🎒

A Reading Adventure about Prepositions of Place

🧠 Step 1: Brainstorming

Warm-up: Look at the title. Where do you usually lose things at home? (Example: on the sofa, under the bed). Write one sentence predicting where Ana will find her backpack.

The Story

Ana and her brother Leo are in the living room. It is a big problem! Ana's red backpack is missing. "Where is it?" Ana asks.

The big, brown sofa is next to the window. There is a small table in front of the sofa. Ana’s keys are on the table. But no backpack!

Leo says, "Look, Max (the dog) is under the blanket behind the armchair." Max is sleeping. There is a yellow ball between Max’s paws.

Ana looks in the kitchen. The kitchen is near the living room. Snowy (the cat) is on the kitchen counter, to the left of the coffee machine. The coffee machine is to the right of the sink. The milk is in the fridge, and the fridge is next to the door.

Suddenly, Leo laughs. "Ana! Look above the door in the hall!" Ana’s red backpack is on a small, high shelf, over the door. The mystery is solved!
